Get NZ Writing

Blake's Boatshed have been busy writing metaphors as part of a writing initiative to get children writing.  96 000 postcards have been sent to 3000 classrooms around New Zealand, all funded by Warehouse Stationery and exchanged with the help of NZ Post.  Room 21 have been buddied up with Valley School in Pukekohe. We all wrote a personal metaphor on an individual postcard.  Have a look at them below.

First, we started by saying what we think Room 21 is.  We think these are pretty accurate, do you?  Especially the one about Room 21 being a herd of elephants!!

Room 21 is a balloon, full of learning that floats up to reach our goals.

Room 21 is a river, rushing forward to meet its goals.

Room 21 is a blank canvas, ready to be painted.

Room 21 is a herd of elephants, sometimes annoyingly loud!

Room 21 is a board game, you never know what is going to happen next.

Room 21 is a store, all unique in their own way.

Room 21 is a bag of pick n mix, different in so many ways.

Room 21 is a time machine, always ready to go back and fix mistakes.

Room 21 is a pack of skittles, all different.

Room 21 is a pack of wolves, always sticking together.

Room 21 is a fluffy sock that will keep people cozy and warm.

Room 21 is a bird, soaring high at work.

Room 21 is an iPad, full of knowledge.

Room 21 is a bunch of odd socks that come together to make one.

Room 21 is a notebook, full of great ideas.

Room 21 is a table, holding us altogether.

Room 21 is a blanket, keeping each other warm.

Room 21 is a packet of skittles, all with different personalities.

Room 21 is a packet of coloured pencils, all looking different and unique.
