Museum and Art Gallery Trip 2018

On the 14th June 2018, Room 21 and a group of helpers went to the Museum and Art Gallery.  At the Museum, we learnt about Solar Energy. We also discovered how the Sun is the primary source of energy and can be used to power a variety of technologies. The children constructed a vehicle to investigate the effect of mass and friction and made recommendations on how these ideas will influence the design of a solar-powered vehicle.  We had lots of interesting designs!

At the Art Gallery we took part in a lesson on Māori Motifs.  The children looked at and discussed a
range of artworks that incorporate Māori motif and design. In the education centre at the Art Gallery,
the children had the opportunity to create their own waka huia (treasure box).

Despite the rain and cold weather, we made the most of it and had a great day.  Thank you to all the helpers!  We couldn't have gone without you.
